Sending Money Through Twitter :: TwitPay vs. TipJoy vs. TipIt vs. Twippr

26 03 2009

There are two new tools for sending money through a tweet.  Yes, for those who have been telling you that you are wasting time and money, now you have one more piece of ammo to convince them that you ARE making money through Twitter.

I’ll start with TwitPay in this comparison thanks to the amazing blog writings of Louis Gray (@louisgray) who featured an update from Jesse Stay (@jesse) of Stay N’ Alive as he gave a look from the Launchup event at the new tool for sending funds via a tweet called TwitPay. It’s mechanized by Amazon Payments Services, so to utilize it all that is necessary is that you have an Amazon account.

TwitPay: US$.05 everytime you make a Twitpay over $.99 + Amazon will charge either 2.9% + $0.30 for all transactions for transactions >=$10 or 5.0% + $0.05 for all transactions <$10.

On a smaller scaltipjoye is TipJoy (@tipjoy) which has been working primarily for raising funds for non-profit organizations through tweets, yet can be used for sending funds to anyone. TipJoy is not for sending funds from one person to another according to their FAQ, yet for giving a tip, paying for digital content/products/services.

TipJoy : 3% fee when users withdraw/use the funds they have received. A star next to your name indicated you are verified, your account is in good standing.tipit

Another model similar to TipJoy is called TipIt (@tipit). TipIt is micropayment processing service provider intended for donating and sending tips, fees or payment to people through Twitter. It is mechanized by Paypal or, for those living in the Eurozone, IBAN money transfer.

TipIt: 5twippr.98% on payout to cover the PayPal fees they incurr when receiving funds.

The simpler model is Twippr (@twippr) to pledge cash to a Twitter.

It also uses Paypal for mechanization.

Twippr: 4% fee when money earned is transferred into your PayPal account.

So, when you decide which one you want to use, send me a tip of any amount to SmarterTwit – thanks for coming by and give sending money a try on your next Tweet!
